Location and Scenery
Camp Olowalu is situated right on the beach, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the nearby islands of Lanai and Molokai. The campsite is surrounded by lush greenery and tropical plants, making it feel like a secluded paradise. The sunsets here are truly spectacular, and we made sure to catch one every evening during our stay.
Amenities
One of the best things about Camp Olowalu is the amenities it offers. The campsite has clean and well-maintained bathrooms and hot showers, as well as a communal kitchen area with sinks, stoves, and a fridge. This made cooking our meals much easier and more convenient. The camp also has a small convenience store where you can purchase basic supplies and snacks.

Camp Olowalu offers a variety of activities for its guests. The beach is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking, and the campsite provides rental equipment for these activities. The campsite also has a fire pit where guests can gather in the evenings to roast marshmallows and make s’mores.
Accommodations
The campsite offers a variety of accommodations, including tent sites, cabins, and glamping tents. We opted for a car camping site, which was spacious and had a picnic table. The site was also conveniently located near the bathrooms and hot showers. We rented our campervan from Kuleana Campers Maui. We booked “Pueo”, a beautiful white Jeep Gladiator camper! It was absolutely amazing!
Nearby Attractions
One of the best things about Camp Olowalu is its location. It is just a short drive away from popular attractions such as Kaanapali, where you can find restaurants, shops, and activities. Check out Black Rock, or Pu’u Keka’a at sunset. Every night at sunset behind the Sheraton Maui, a cliff diver lights the tiki torches just be for he take a plunge in the glimmering waters of Ka’analpali! We also took a day trip to the nearby towns of Kihei, Wailea, and Makena which have beautiful beaches and great snorkeling spots. The campsite is also close to the famous Road to Hana, making it a great base for exploring this scenic drive.

Our 7-day stay at Camp Olowalu was nothing short of amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful, the amenities were convenient, and the location was unbeatable. We loved being able to wake up to the sound of the ocean and watch the sunset every evening.
